Disclosure: This post is NOT sponsored by Bausch and Lomb. No one asked me to write this post, I truly am just excited about this product.

If you’d asked me this question a year ago, my answer would be only if you’re willing to compromise and have monovision (one eye sees for far away and one eye reads up close) or if you’d be willing to wear a hybrid contact lens instead.

Before there was only one soft contact lens that was meant for astigmatism and multifocal without making a custom lens. I tried fitting it a handful of times and never had one patient be happy about it.

Ultra Presbyopia Contacts for Astigmatism

However, as of July 1st, we now have a new option!

Introducing Bausch and Lomb’s new Ultra Presbyopia for Astigmatism! The name is kind of a mouthful, but the lens has been performing very well so far! We were the first clinic in the Vancouver area to receive a fitting set for the lens and have been very impressed so far.

The lens combines the smooth optics for their multifocal with the stability of the toric lens that we have come to love in our practice over the last several years. In the last month and a half, we have probably fit around 12-15 patients in the lens with excellent results so far.

Okay, so it’s a small sample size so far, and the lens isn’t out yet in ALL the parameters we want. So your prescription might not qualify to be fit in the lens quite yet, but it is available for a wide variety of prescriptions so far.

Looking For A Contact Solution?

If you’ve been thinking about dropping out of contacts because you need reading glasses, don’t like monovision you’ve been put in, have been told you can’t wear contacts due to astigmatism, or just aren’t happy in the overall vision you’re getting in your current multifocal contact lens, feel free to give us a call to come in and try out this new lens! We’ve been incredibly impressed with it so far and can’t wait to keep fitting it.

And if you aren’t a candidate for this lens at your examination, that’s OK. If we try it and it isn’t working we still have the options of trying a hybrid or rigid contact lens instead, if you’re interested!

Give us a call today to schedule your examination!
