Christen Jankowski, O.D.
Dr. Jankowski discovered the west coast upon leaving the Army after 7 years active duty in 1979. He headed north to study, and received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1984. From there, he dusted off his old Army uniform and packed his bags for military assignment to the 34th General Hospital in Augsburg, Germany. He assumed duties there as Assistant Chief of Optometry within the Department of Surgery. After fulfilling his military obligation, he left active duty, and decided to make Vancouver his home.
Other than being shipped overseas when his Reserve Hospital unit was activated for Desert Storm in 1990, "Dr. J" prefers the smaller, friendlier family practice in the local community.
Dr. Jankowski has four children - twins plus two. He retired from the Army Reserves in 1999 and served as the last Commander of the 7206th Medical Support Unit out at Vancouver Barracks. Dr. J has served as past president of the Southwest Society of the Optometric Physicians of Washington, and has held office as an association Trustee at the state level. Currently he tinkers with computers and old cars that he can fix.
Nicholas Jankowski, O.D.
Dr. Nick is a Pacific Northwesterner through and through. Born and raised in the Vancouver area, he eventually traveled south to Newberg, OR to study biology at George Fox University. Dr. Nick always knew he wanted to go into medicine in some capacity, but had never really settled on a specialty until he began to work at Mt. View EyeCare during the summers off from school. After working a few weeks here, Dr. Nick decided he wanted to become an Optometrist.
From there, Dr. Nick moved himself another 20 miles west to Forest Grove, OR, the location of Pacific University College of Optometry. While attending, he took a great interest in pediatric care, vision therapy, and low vision practice in addition to primary care, disease management, and specialty contact lenses.
In his spare time, Dr. Nick can be found filling out his McMenamins passport, hiking around the northwest, or catching up on the latest eye care journals!
